Meeting for Learning 2025

Meeting for Learning (MfL), is a transformative, full year program for those seeking to deepen their spiritual journey and understanding of Quaker spirituality and practice. The year begins and ends with a residential retreat, and support is given for your spiritual journey between retreats.  

The 2025 retreat will be held in Poatina, Tasmania, from Sunday 19 to Saturday 25 October, 2025.

Hosted by Tasmania Regional Meeting, it is the 2nd event at this facility. Some participants will complete their program this year, others will commence. The 2025 focus is on the faith community and our individual spiritual journey within it.

The host for 2026/2027 will soon be discerned and will discern an appropriate venue.

Participants will benefit from ongoing support throughout the year, including a support group from their local community or family, aimed at nurturing their spiritual growth.

This retreat offers a unique opportunity to explore spirituality within a supportive Quaker community, promising a journey of reflection, learning, and personal growth. There will be much opportunity to practice deep listening to Spirit, yourself,  and others.

The Retreat is open to Members, Attenders and others in sympathy with Quaker faith and practices. If you think this retreat might be for you, please take these steps:

1. Talk to a previous participant in your local Meeting, or your Regional Meeting Clerk, to ask about their experience.
2. Write to Fiona Gardner fionagardneraway@icloud.com expressing your interest in participating. If possible this should be by the end of May 2025.

Spiritual Nurture Retreat

A fully catered retreat week on being a Spiritual Nurturer will be held at the same time as the Meeting for Learning at Poatina, Tasmania, 2025. Drew Lawson (Victoria Regional Meeting) is offering a retreat week “On Being a Spiritual Nurturer” for Friends who have completed the Meeting for Learning, or something similar, where they explored their own spiritual nature.
