Australian Quakers grateful for the establishment of an Advisory Panel on Australia’s Resettlement of Afghan Nationals

Australia Yearly Meeting's Presiding Clerk has written to Alex Hawke, the Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs, expressing gratitude for the recent establishment of the Advisory Panel on Australia’s Resettlement of Afghan Nationals, co-chaired by Paris Aristotle and Alison Larkins.

"We are grateful that the membership of the Advisory Panel is actually representative of Afghan community groups in Australia as well as settlement and migrant-specific services and support organisations, rather than political appointments. Read the full letter here."

Australian Quakers wrote to Minister Hawke last month (August 2021), expressing concern about Australia's treatment of Afghan refugees coming to Australia. Read that letter here.
