Dear Dr Farouk,

We were greatly saddened to learn of the tragic death and injury inflicted on worshippers in the two mosques in Christchurch yesterday.

Quakers believe that we must do whatever presents itself to help build a peace that takes away the occasion of all wars. This testimony leads us to condemn these actions, which stand against the basic notions of freedom of religion, morals, and human rights.

Our prayers are with you at this time as you seek to help and console those who have been touched by this recent attack.

Australian Quakers will hold in remembrance those who have died and those who continue to suffer injury and loss.

In peace and Light,

Jo Jordan

Presiding Clerk
The Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Australia
