JanYM25 Retreat: Settling in to Spirit

Retreat: Settling in to Spirit

1.00–5.00pm AEDT
Friday, 17 January 2025

Reflective session titled Settling in to Spirit" (please click on link for the readings).

An invitation to prepare your heart, mind, and spirit for January Yearly Meeting 2025.

Join Drew Thomas (TRM) for a special time of spiritual nurture and grounding before the main program begins. No need to book—just turn up and take this opportunity to settle into a spirit of worship and connection.

Quakers often speak of coming to Meeting for Worship with hearts and minds prepared. The January Yearly Meeting weekend is rooted in worship, offering a rich and varied program. This retreat provides a space to centre yourself and prepare for discernment, gathering, and being part of a loving community.

“My hope is that through this retreat you will find a space to think about the spiritual process of our gathering and engage from your heart, mind and soul,” says Drew.

How to Participate

This retreat is designed to be flexible and inclusive. You can join in one of two ways (times in AEDT):

  • Participate in a Zoom group meeting at 1.00–1.45pm and again at 4.15–5.00pm. Between these sessions, take time to reflect and retreat on your own.
  • Alternatively, retreat entirely on your own while holding a spiritual connection with other retreatants.

Whether you join the Zoom sessions or retreat solo, this is your chance to create a personal experience of spiritual preparation. Feel free to participate as much or as little as you’re able. An optional reading and reflection guide will be available in early January and included in the “What is this?” note.

If you have any questions, Drew would love to hear from you:
