National Anti-Corruption Commission-Update from QPLC

QPLC has issued a new Action Alert which provides details of the Government's proposed National Anti-Corruption Commission, along with media commentary pieces and parliamentarians who can be lobbied on the matter.

The Alert outlines the main features and suggests points that might be taken up in any lobbying of MPs and Senators during the Parliamentary examination of the Bill. The areas where Friends may want to express views include:

• the scope of the legislation
• the powers of the NACC
• (the extent to which the ‘public interest’ is likely to be valued above any ‘exceptional circumstances, and
• the funding and resources available for the new body
