Quakers support the Climate Strike on 15 May
Ann Zubrick, Presiding Clerk, has written to ARRCC (Australia Religious Response to Climate Change) and School Strike 4 Climate to express support and solidarity with this action.
We acknowledge the contribution we can each make by living more simply while also seeking broader national and international solutions. Quakers recognise that of the Divine in each person. We affirm our connection with all life--in a bold Earth design. In this global climate emergency, we seek, and support leadership committed to a healthy common future.
We support and stand alongside all around the world, and here in Australia who want climate action.
We will not forget the 2019/2020 catastrophic bushfires and intense heat—in Australia, California and Brazil--followed now by the COVID-19 pandemic. Such global events require global solutions. Changed human actions and lockdown in these months has cleared the air, some rivers and shorelines. It is timely to reflect and learn from this part of the COVID-19 experience.
