A Friendly Discussion or conversation might defined in this way:

"Quaker Conversations were conceived as a way for our Meeting to have conversations to support seekers in their spiritual development. Given that Friends worship practices, including meetings for worship with a concern for business, can be punctuated with long stretches of silences, Quaker Conversations are intended to create spaces where people can ask questions of one another and freely engage in dialogue without having to navigate the awkwardness of knowing if it is appropriate to speak. Topics may be suggested by anyone, and are approved in meetings for worship with a concern for business...:
