UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons - reaches 50 ratifications!

The UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons has just acheived its 50th ratification, meaning it will come into effect in 90 days, on 22 January 2021 and be binding international law.

Quakers in Australia are strongly supportive of this treaty, and have written letters and statements encouraging action on this issue. Congratulations to all the nations that have signed on to support the Treaty.

Unfortunately, Australia has still not signed on to this Treaty. But, there is still time.

Visit the International Campaign to Abolition Nuclear Weapons website to learn more and find out how you can get involved, or contact the Prime Minister and leader of the Opposition, urging them to support the Treaty.
