Earth Witness and Action Network
Purpose
This Committee aims to inspire responsibility and awareness of the wider implications of human impact on the Earth, working to build connections and support networks among Friends who are committed to Earthcare.
The Quakers Australia Earth Witness and Action Network(EWAN) is dedicated to fostering and coordinating environmental stewardship. The Network draws on the Action Plan for Our Home, accepted at Yearly Meeting in 2024.
EWAN operates as an “Expert Committee” with the mandate to support Friends, Meetings, and Committees engaged in environmental action and advocacy.
EWAC works closely with the Presiding Clerk, Regional Meetings, and other QA Committees to ensure cohesive action and to coordinate resources, drawing from the Earthcare Fund as needed. Regional Meetings will also play a vital role, sharing responsibility and responding to the urgent need for environmental action.
The committee includes representatives from each Regional Meeting, as well as Rainbow Friends and FORM members, creating a diverse and inclusive network.
